Moretele Park Tribute Concert (South Africa)
The extensive billing includes the SAMA winning Amanda Black, hip hop ace Kwesta, jazz guitarist and singer Selalelo Selota, afro-soul crooner Ringo Mandlingozi, dance music duo Black Motion, popular songstress Lira, all star female ensemble, Ladies In Jazz, Swazi singer Sandz, Robbie Malinga & Musa, Bhudaza and the platinum-selling Jaziel Brothers to mention a few. The 19-year-old concert’s appearance in the City of Tshwane features jazz, afro- soul, and dance and rap music.
The concert which has firmly established itself as a premier event on the South African music calendar, takes place at the City of Tshwane’s Moretele Park on Saturday, 2 September 2017. Drakensberg Promotions, producers of the much eminent fair who have heeded the call to action towards increasing local content, as pioneers have ensured a 100% local artist line up event for this year’s programme. Sam Mhangwani, producer of the concert says, “We are happy to have reached such a milestone as the Tribute Concert and look forward to the 2017 concert, which will see a rich and warm blend of music in the heart of Pretoria, bringing together concert-goers in a truly united and global celebration of South Africa and its heritage.
In conjunction with SAMRO, Drakensberg Promotions, on August 26 will also host a music business workshop, designed as a panel discussion and presented by top industry professionals aimed at musicians and others in the industry eager to know more about the business of music. The workshops cover business operations, event production, royalties and the latest trends in the music industry.
The Tribute Concert is supported by amongst others The Department of Arts and Culture, City of Tshwane, White Star, Gauteng Tourism and Gauteng Sports Recreation Arts and Culture.
